| US/Brazil Roundtable |
Brazil (the B in the BRIC trend) is the sixth largest economy by purchasing power with a GDP of $2.5 trillion and is one of the most attractive and emerging market economies. With the upcoming World Cup in 2014 and the Olympics in 2016, Brazil will be on the world stage. Brazilian consumers are very interested in health, wellness, and anti-aging products. Stimulated by enthusiastic growth rates, international players from the nutrition and pharma industries are looking into many growth opportunities in Brazil. NBJ estimates that the dietary supplement industry will grow 10-15% for the next three to five years, and anti-aging and sports nutrition products will eclipse that growth; Last year, the sports nutrition industry grew over 25%.
The NBJ Summit is proud to announce a special US/Brazil strategic Roundtable, which will address the opportunities and challenges in this exciting and emerging market. The Roundtable will provide US CEOs an opportunity to hear directly from experts in Brazil on the market size, growth, and distribution channels, and encourage a productive discussion around how best to enter this market successfully. The challenges are well-known and this Roundtable will help clarify and identify solutions to some of these challenges.

| Opening Keynote Address: What Got You Here Won’t Get You There -- The real secrets of leadership from one of the top leadership thinkers in the world. |
|
“One of the great false assumptions in leadership development is, ‘if they understand, they will do.’ If this were true, everyone who understood the importance of going on a healthy diet and exercising would be in shape.”
“For most leaders, the great challenge is not understanding the practice of leadership: It is practicing their understanding of leadership.”
Dr. Marshall Goldsmith was recently recognized as the #1 leadership thinker in the world at the bi-annual Thinkers50 ceremony sponsored by the Harvard Business Review. Along with being recognized as the #1 leadership thinker, Marshall was listed as the #7 greatest business thinker in the world. Marshall Goldsmith is the million-selling author or editor of 32 books, including the New York Times and Wall Street Journal bestsellers, MOJO and What Got You Here Won’t Get You There – a WSJ #1 business book and winner of the Harold Longman Award for Business Book of the Year. His books have been translated into 28 languages and become bestsellers in ten countries.
At this year’s Summit, Dr. Goldsmith will address some of the following key topics that will increase your leadership impact in running your companies:
- Leverage straightforward techniques to enhance your leadership impact
- Discover the 20 workplace habits you need to break to get even better
- Identify the unconscious behaviors that get in the way of your next level of achievement, both as a leader and for your company
Come experience some of the wisdom and powerful thoughts that Marshall Goldsmith will share with us about leading our companies and our industry to further heights of accomplishment and success.

| Featured Speaker: The CEO as Storyteller in Chief |
|
A CEO who has a great story and tells it has a much easier time reaching out to people, connecting to them, and creating a sustainable community of them than anyone who relies entirely on data points and charts has (Source: Forbes.com June 15, 2009). Bo Eason states that: “The gold is your story. No one can tell your story better than you. We are all interested in where you came from and how you got where you are today.” Bo Eason will share the three key areas that will enable you to tell your story and inspire others in a monumental way. Bo teaches leaders and speakers how to really connect with the audience and says if you can’t explain your story, you are done. Bo Eason has become well known to the world by sharing his personal story. Now he will share his secrets of storytelling so you can become a more effective leader and communicate with your employees and customers in a better way.

| Industry Consolidation and Private Equity Trends |
|
How does this change the way we do business over the next three to five years? Witness the explosion of mergers and acquisitions that have taken place in nutrition in 2011 and 2012, with one of the most notable being Pfizer’s purchase of Alacer, the creators of Emergen-C, for over $350 million this February. Moreover, there continues to be a strong interest from private equity firms in the nutrition and wellness industries, particularly in finished-goods brands that can be then sold to larger strategic buyers. This has been happening in the natural food and beverage space for awhile, and now it’s moving into supplement companies such as NBTY, MegaFood, Garden of Life, and Renew Life, all private-equity backed. It’s only a matter of time before these companies will want to sell these portfolio companies for an attractive ROI. As our industry matures in the next few years—and the food and pharmaceutical industries seek to capitalize on consumers’ growing need for nature-based, scientifically-sound solutions—I believe this blurring effect will dramatically change the landscape of how we do business, and even how we define our industry. These buyouts, however, are just the beginning of what I predict will be a major trend toward the overall convergence and blurring of pharmaceutical, OTC, food and nutritional supplement companies across the board.
